Construction Project Updates
Lyme Central School Construction Project 2010 Lyme Central School is getting a facelift! As many of you know, the LCS is under construction this summer. Our facilities are undergoing an overhaul that includes upgrading the lighting and electrical systems, remodeling bathrooms, lobby area, health office and main office. We are also updating the locker rooms, replacing our boiler system, and repairing portions of the roof that need to be replaced. Areas of the building that are receiving minimal upgrades are mostly in the 2002 wing of the building. Outside we are addressing drainage issues in the front of the building and renovating the sports fields located between Hart Rd and Park Street. The new fields will include a baseball field, softball field and two soccer fields. Over the years, the existing soccer field has gone into disrepair to the point that it is unsafe to play on. These new fields will be ready for play, fall 2011. The Board of Education has worked closely with the architects, construction managers and contractors to insure we are maximizing our resources. Our staff has “repurposed” materials and salvage items, such as old shelving and cupboards, to be used in areas not within the scope of the project. We are also recycling items that have outlived their usefulness, such as the old boiler system. This project is funded through NYS EXCEL aid and taxpayer support. Without your continued support, this project would not have been possible. The students, staff and families of LCS greatly appreciate your continued support. With the exception of the fields, we anticipate most of the work will be completed before we open for the first day of school on September 7, 2010. We hope you will be pleased with our efforts and look forward to showing the results. Due to the potential hazards the public is not allowed in the construction area.
