Art students who have successfully completed Studio Art earning a grade of 80 or above are eligible to take Advanced Art or Drawing and Painting. These courses are for the independent, self motivated art students. SKETCHBOOKS In addition to in class work on projects, students are asked to work on a weekly sketchbook assignment to be completed outside of class. Below you will find the sketchbook assignment sheet with the assigment descriptions as well as due dates. DRAWING AND PAINTING 2nd Semester 2010 SKETCHBOOK ASSIGNMENTS Using this list, draw in your sketchbook. One assignment will be due each week on Wednesday. You may choose which of the assignments you will complete for the week. However, you may not draw the same assignment twice. All assignments are expected to be handed in on the due date, in case of absence or school closure, the sketchbook will be due the next class. 1. CollageāA Family Portrait: A grouping of photos of you and your family with words, drawn images, mixed media. Express what you think your family is about. 2. Magnifying Glass: Draw a view through a magnifying glass. Include the magnifying glass. Any media. 3. Cemetery at Night: Draw a cemetery at night. Use dramatic lighting. You may want to begin with black paper pasted into your sketchbook. Media: inks, colored pencils, charcoal, pastel, craypas, etc. 4. Change of Style: Divide the page into 4 equal sections. Draw an object/objects in one section. Repeat the same drawing in the other sections, but change the style of each (representational, abstract, cubist, ink stipple, harmonious, complementary colors. 5. Personal Item: Draw or paint any personal item of your choosing. Please make sure to include all of the shadowing and reflections that the object has and casts. Take your time, work on shading! 6. Your Sunglasses: Zoomed in at an interesting angle and what they reflect. 7. Out the Window: Make a drawing of a window and the view. 8. Out the Window with a twist: Draw the same window but twist the view to incorporate fantasy or surreal imagery. 9. Board Game: A close up of the various pieces from a game, the board, box, etc. 10. Popcorn: A close up set of 3-5 pieces of popped popcorn. 11. Theme Drawing: Make a drawing with a theme of your choice. 12. The Kitchen Sink: Draw your kitchen sink, dirty dishes and all or sparkling clean. 13. Your Bathroom: Draw part of your bathroom. Be creative in what you choose to draw. 14. Collage Design: Create a design using elements from magazine or newspaper images. Cut and paste the images onto the page in your sketchbook to create the design. 15. Landscape: Draw a landscape with and without man-made structures.
