Studio Art

Studio Art is a course open to 9-12th grade students.  It is a hands-on course.  Throughout the year we explore different art media through various projects. 

SKETCHBOOKS  In addition to in class work on projects, students are asked to work on a weekly sketchbook assignment to be completed outside of class.  Below you will find the sketchbook assignment sheet with the assigment descriptions as well as due dates.

4th Quarter

Assignment
“Tools” Make a composition using construction supplies and tools.  Draw this in pencil using values.  Example items-- screws, nail, nuts and bolts, screwdrivers, hammers, drills…	April 21, 2010   SB #1
“Interior” Draw the interior of something.  Be creative when deciding on where and what to draw.  As always- add value!	April 28, 2010 SB #2
2D and 3 D Arrows-Create a full page composition using a combination of 3-dimensional and 2-dimensional arrows. Use overlapping to break up the spaces into interesting positive and negative shapes. Outline with felt-tip pen. Think up an interesting color scheme and fill the shapes with colored pencil.  See handout.	May 5, 2010         SB #3

“Lines” Try to make as many types of lines as you can.  Repeat each type of line several times.  Try all types of lines: wavy, curly, jagged, dashes, fat, thin, etc. Fill your page with as many lines as you can.  See handout.	May 19, 2010       SB# 5
“Patriotic Theme” In your sketchbook, make a drawing that reflects a patriotic theme.  It is your choice of what represents patriotism but you will be evaluated on the skill of your drawing as well as the addition of value and color.  Color is required.	May 26, 2010       SB # 6
“Your Choice” Add complete value, the blacks, whites and all the grays in between.  You will be evaluated on composition and value.	June 2, 2010   SB #7
